The Shuttle KPC K45 - sleek, black & green!

June 25th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in mini pc

Shuttle Mini-PC’s have been a favorite of mine for the past five years. They are just as powerful as any other pc but take up about 1/4 of the space. Shuttle recently came out with the K45, a small, low-priced pc, that consumes less than 100 watts! The barebone unit is only ~$99 and a complete system can be had for as low as ~$209 - woot!

Shuttle does offer other more powerful options, but this one is perfect for most people, especially businesses. Going green with this PC is also a plus for those eco-conscious people out there. I’ve put together a few of these small form factor computers myself and this one definitely makes a statement. Most people that have seen it ask “what’s that?” (not realizing that this tiny thing is actually a computer!).

What, no optical drive? You’re right, there’s not a DVD/CD drive in this model. Though, any of you who like to mod your computers will be pleased to know that there’s a hidden slim drive bay in this thing. Later this year Shuttle will be releasing a model that comes standard with an optical bay.

What are some practical uses for a computer like this?

  • Web Browsing
  • Word Processing
  • File Server
  • Business Applications
  • Linux, Windows or Mac (yes, Mac OS X)

My tech blog, dailywoot.com.

June 24th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Miscellaneous

For some time I’ve been wanting to create my own tech blog.

I’m a computer geek. For over ten years I’ve been very interested in technology and have become an advanced user. I love building and modding computers and enjoy researching and testing the latest and greatest in the computer world. I also like my computers to be quiet yet powerful. I’m also a website designer and was previously an onsite-computer technician, which I still do occasionally.

The purpose of this blog will be to publish reviews and opinions on various tech products. I’ll also be reporting on various great deals out there, and other things tech related. woot!
